The Background:

The children nurtured in these homes will have a chance to grow and take advantage of opportunities that will enhance the life of the entire village in coming years, challenging the cycle of poverty that regularly grips rural Indian villages. These homes are all in Andhra Pradesh state in India.

For $50 each child will receive 2 school color uniforms (Monday - Friday) and 1 white uniform (Saturday), 2 pairs of shoes (one black and one white), 3 pairs of socks, school bag, pens and pencils.

The Goal:

Our goal at The Khusi Hona Orphan Project is not only to provide orphaned and abandoned children with the necessities for survival. Most of these children were born into a cycle of poverty. We strive to provide the children with all the tools needed for a happy childhood. The children cared by CCH (Covenant Children’s Homes) have been enrolled in quality private schools and are treated with love, dignity and respect by their caretakers.

The Benefit:

The dignity that these kids feel when they attend school in a new uniform is worth more than $50!  These kids are going from abandoned or orphaned to fully decked out in their school gear.  They do not stand out in school, they are treated like everyone else, and it reinforces dignity that we are trying so hard to restore in these kids. This added dignity and level of respect helps the children to achieve in school and ultimately helps to break them from the cycle of poverty into which they were born.
